Christmas Tree Hunting

A meetup with the girls since I came back from Bangkok in few weeks back. Being girls, we went shopping in Orchard. Well, it's been a long time since I stepped foot in Orchard. I didn't really bought any stuffs cos none caught my eye. Or maybe it's because I'm a little sick of shopping, and I kept comparing the prices here to Bangkok. :P Perhaps once a while, should have a shopping spree to Bangkok hahaha. And then, no more shopping for that year. ;)

Settled our dinner at Orchard Central's Lao Beijing restaurant. Had buffet for dinner cos I'm very hungry. Another excuse was that I missed Xiao Long Baos, didn't get to eat them in Bangkok :x
But still, in my opinion, their XLBs were alright, I still like the ones in Din Tai Feng's. Too bad they don't have the XLB buffet option ;(

Some snippets of the food!
And yay, cos we have 4 person, we have the popiah free. Only one serving per person, but you have the option to wrap it yourself! Using the ingredients that they provide you. Quite fun actually haha, even though I'm not a huge fan of popiah. :)

After the extremely bloated buffet dinner, we actually sat for nearly 3 hours I think, till the restaurant was about to close, we went for some 'Christmas Tree Hunting'! We took pictures with almost all the X'mas Trees that we saw while strolling down Orchard Road. I had no idea why, maybe trying to get into the festive mood. It's actually fun, feeling all touristy haha. :P

The Pink X'mas Tree! My favourite!
Pink Pretty Decorations outside Orchard Central!
Near 313 Mall
Street Decorations
Somehow, anyone get the feeling that the decorations on the streets felt like it was for Chinese New Year instead? It looks so red and all, totally not Christmas. Or maybe they decided to put them there till CNY? Not a bad idea to recycle them actually :P

Another X'mas Tree spotted! In front of Topshop.
We are part of the decorations!
X'mas Tree in front of Paragon
Inside Ngee Ann City
In front of ION
The Christmas Tree in front of ION was too gigantic to capture in its entirety. :/ We requested the people whom helped us capture the photo to capture the entire tree, but all failed. Well, it's okay, it's the people in the photo that mattered right? :D

The World Didn't End!

Okay, so I'm still alive and kicking! Which means the world didn't end, unfortunately. :P

Merry X'mas and Happy New Year 2013 to all!
Have you fulfil your 2012 resolutions yet? There's still a few days left!

I'm not someone with a habit of pinning down new year resolutions, one for fear that I'm afraid of being bagged down my disappointments in the event that (what if) I didn't manage to complete them all or most of them? I'll feel like a sore loser, hahaha. Oh well, maybe it's time to think of at least some? :/ At least give me the motivation in life which I am still trying to find. It's like I always have this whole in my heart which I'm dying to fill and figure out what it is. Gosh, certainly sounds like I'm suffering from an extremely early mid-life crisis, how upsetting :(

OH, how I missed Bangkok now that I'm back. :,(
Missed waking up to friends, everything.
Well, guessed it marked an meaningful and fun chapter in my life. :)

#4: Chula Exchange

Stayed in Bangkok this weekend, what a pity ;( There's no classes on Tuesday as it's King Chulalongkorn day, which means I have a long weekend! From Saturday to Tuesday! And one of my Wednesday class is cancelled, should I skip the Wednesday morning class, I would have an even longer weekend, till Thursday! :x But no traveling plans, which sucks!

Supposed to go diving at Koh Tao. Wanted to go. But it's a four days course and because I have a presentation on Friday afternoon, I can't leave on Thursday night with the rest. :( How wasted. Sigh. Don't know if there'll be a next time anytime soon, due to the upcoming monsoon season in November and December. :(

Oh well, maybe I'll go to Koh Chang next weekend! :D

Lovely neoprints taken at MBK Center. :P Those were actual props! Kinda cool isn't it? Hahaha.

And YES OHMYGOD!
I have the BEST burger in my life!!! At Firehouse Pub and Restaurant. The fries were really good too! Plus the meat patty, I ordered beef. It was so so soft and juicy!! Definitely going back there again! It's within 10 minutes walking distance from the Terminal 21 shopping centre. :D

Okay, my phone camera sucks :( I ordered the Mini burger. Trust me, it isn't MINI at all! And it costs like 140 baht with fries! Which translates to less than 6 SGD! :D

Taken from their Facebook page! YUMMY RIGHT! Exactly how mine looks like! :D

Picture of our apartment after a party. :/ Such a mess! And the floor was so sticky that we mopped it twice! :S Luckily we didn't get any complaint letter, as compared to the previous party upstairs. Hahaha.

#3: Chula Exchange: Sawadeeka!

Getting used to the Bangkok life, the spicy foods (though I usually avoid them :p), the traffic jams, the hot weather...

It's been more than a month since I've been in Bangkok, it seems like time passes by fast, especially when you're enjoying yourself, traveling around etc. The mood to study is totally at it's minimal.

Pictures of my room and the apartment! :D

We took the 3 bedrooms apartment, it's like a 4 rooms HDB flat in Singapore, 3 bedrooms plus a living room. There's TV in each of our individual rooms and a HDTV in the living room! ^_^

Places that I've been to so far,
  1. Attutaya
  2. Awphawa Floating Market
  3. Kanachanaburi
  4. The Grand Palace
  5. Alot of temples
Shall focus on Kanachanaburi, since it's the latest and hence, most fresh memory :p It takes a few hours to get there by the minivan, from Victory Monument BTS. It was nice that when we arrived at Kanachanaburi station, we got picked up by a driver from the VN Guesthouse. :) Pretty cheap and decent accommodation for a day or two, think I paid about ten dollars or so for 2 nights? Sharing with 2 other girls in the room though it was meant for only two. :P

We rented motorbikes to travel around for the 2nd day. Vroom vroom!

Us with the motorbikes!

The Death Railway
We visited the museum for the death railway too. Learnt about how it came about, pretty sad story. Lots of lives were lost in building this particular railway, hence the term 'death railway' came about.

Group shot on the railway tracks :)

Super hugeeeeee BUDDHA!
I love the waterfalls in Kanachanaburi, we went to the Erawan National Park the third day, there are a total of 7 waterfalls. Beautiful! The only thing I regretted was wearing slippers, there was a slight rain and I slipped a couple of times, even had my slippers stuck in the mud. ;(

Okay... Now I have to drag myself to study, midterms are almost here. :(
I just need to get a pass for all the courses! ^_^ Which is awesome!

Till I update again!

#2 Chula Exchange: Counting Down To The Last Few Days

Suddenly, everything felt so surreal. I only have a mere few days left in Singapore that I can count, even with one foot. Though kinda excited at what awaits me when I reach over there, but somehow, not seeing the ones I love for about 5 months or so, makes me sad :(

Furthermore, I have never been away from home for so long before. And this is gonna be my virgin 1st time, not seeing friends/family for so long. Guess I will have to get used to it; get used to missing people etc.

Well, thankfully, there is the Internet available in my residence that I will be staying in. It will be my lifeline to keeping in touch with those I missed. Oh man, seriously, what would one do if there's no Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Mail, Whatsapp, Line, Viber... :'(

Okay, I will be staying at Nonsi Residence! :) Pictures below!
Images taken from Nonsi Residence website, http://www.nonsiresidence.com

Looks not bad! Got swimming pool and gym! Hahaha, don't know whether I will use them anot haha!

Whenever I'm leaving on a plane for overseas, I'll think of this song - Leaving on a Jetplane.
Nice song! Got to know of this song from the movie, Armageddon. Super awesome movie too!

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

52 Reasons I Love You

Decided to make a handmade gift for someone special, so googled online for inspiration and found the "52 Reasons I Love You" deck of cards.

It's a rather sweet idea/gift, for your girlfriend/boyfriend/mummy/daddy/friends and whoever you love! :D

Of course, coming up with 52 reasons took quite some time and some braincells. 52 different and unique reasons, specifically tailored to the person. Certainly, you can find tons of reasons online and just do a copy-and-paste, but that would defeat the original purpose right? Best to think of some reasons yourself. :p

So, if you did a google search, there are actually a lot of tutorials online. Most of them includes punching holes at the side and attaching book rings at the side.

Anyway, the first step would be to do or find a template and print it out. You can do it via Powerpoint and the rectangles are 6cm by 4cm. Well, I searched online for super long to find a nice template, which is here: http://www.slideshare.net/carrieannwoody/52-reasons-i-love-you-blank. Hehe, I changed the fonts only and insert pictures into every rectangle. I prefer to have pictures + words hahaha. Nicer mah!

Printouts of the 52 reasons
I blurred the above picture on purpose :p I'm too shy to showcase the reasons and I believed that the reasons should only be seen by the eyes of the one and only :D

Yeah, the easier task was the printing. T.T Took some time to think and type in the reasons, add in relevant pictures, adjust the placing of words/pictures to make it nice nice. But well, think of how happy the person would feel receiving it made it worthwhile. :D

Finally cut out all of them. Looked like a mini deck of cards eh? And the cutting part wasn't easy as I thought due to the gap in between each rectangle was actually quite narrow! So spent some time on the cutting haha. Perhaps, to make it easier, should just shift the positions of the rectangles so that there are no gaps in between? Maybe it would be easier to cut.

Now, would be to stick it onto the deck of cards!

I stuck it onto a deck of normal Bicycle deck that I happened to have. :)
Can be any poker card deck too!

Next, I decided to use those trading card holders to slot the cards in. Haha, feeling abit lazy to punch holes for each of them. Coincidentally, managed to find this in Diaso IMM for just $2!
Can protect from the cards from wear and tear also! :p

Yay, done with the 52 Reasons I Love You cards! ^_^

Fruit Paradise

Dinner with Rebecca at Fruit Paradise at Plaza Singapura located at level four, it's near Aijsen Ramen, just that you have to walk all the way in! Apparently, it's part of the Ajisen family too.

Due to the name of the outlet, I initially thought that they served only fruits-related food? Hahaha.

But I was so so so WRONG.

Above picture is some cheese baked rice that I ordered. Looks yummy right!
And yes, I licked the bowl clean. :D

The pasta dish ordered by my friend. Yummylicious too! :D

Next, we decided to try out the Fruit Tarts that they have on display. As we are sitting near to the display, it was as if the fruit tarts were screaming at us to buy them. T.T

Looks more like cake instead of fruit tart right? Shouldn't it be round like egg tart? Haha.
Actually, YES THEY ARE.

They do sell in one big piece of fruit tart too! But it's quite big!
Per slice it's about 6 plus, which we ordered that time.

Chocolate Banana! Super love love this!
Gonna be in the list of one of my favorite fruit tarts! :)

I'm sinfully happy!
